NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Hille Korhonen, president and CEO of Nokian Tyres P.L.C., plans to compete in the the Ironman triathlon in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Sept. 30.
The event will be held about 35 miles from Dayton, Tenn., the site of Nokian's first North American tire plant. Currently under construction, the plant is expected to start commercial-scale production by 2020.

"The sense of community that comes from participating in an Ironman event is extraordinary," Ms. Korhonen said. "I came to Chattanooga last year for the Dayton factory ground-breaking ceremony and since that time have set my sights on coming back to compete."
The race begins with a 2.4-mile swim in the Tennessee River followed by a 116-mile bike course in north Georgia, and it will conclude with a 26.2-mile road race that will travel through downtown Chattanooga, Riverview and the North Shore.
Ms. Korhonen said she was to set an example for Nokian employees, showing them "our company's values aren't just words. For me, courage, devotion and commitment lay the foundation for Nokian Tyres' success.
"This race exemplifies that by putting both physical and mental capabilities to the test, showcasing how this type determination can drive people forward and allow them to accomplish their goals."
