BOONE, Iowa — Titan International Inc. is spotlighting its Goodyear-brand R14 "crossover" farm tire for compact tractors at this year's Farm Progress Show, along with tires vs. tracks Ride 'n' Drives and other demonstrations.
The R14 combines the traction and cleaning features of an R-1 ag tire with the wear and ride features of an R-4 industrial tire, Titan said, thus providing performance on surfaces ranging from hard concrete to softer soils.
Compact tractors, by nature, are designed to be versatile enough to work in any weather or conditions, including soil, snow or turf, but Titan claims there's never been a tire designed to work equally as well in each of those applications.
Titan will leverage its presence at Farm Progress with a tires vs. tracks Ride 'n' Drive featuring a range of top-selling tractors pulling a test sled running on Goodyear OptiTrac LSW1400/30R46, Titan's low-sidewall alternative to tracks and conventional dual configurations on large 4WD tractors.
Other activities on tap include:
- Sponsorship of a live tractor restoration featuring a 1949 John Deere Model M being disassembled and then rebuilt;
- $2,000 daily giveaways at Titan's booth; and
- Tire auction to benefit regional Future Farmers of America chapters. The auction, which raised $120,000 in 2017, is set for 2 p.m. CDT on Aug. 29.
