TIMISOARA, Romania — Continental A.G. is investing $4.6 million to improve the environmental impact of its tire production unit in Timisoara.
The project involves upgrading a regenerative thermal oxidation system for treating olfactory emissions, a company spokesman told European Rubber Journal.
Improvements to the existing system, which was installed at the Romanian plant in 2015, are expected to reduce odors from production by as much as 80 percent.
In a separate development, Conti purchased 79-acre plot of land near the site, where it said it will build a warehouse and logistics center for the factory.
"This land acquisition will help the company optimize costs with logistics activities and expand storage capacity for finished goods," the spokesman said.
