ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monro Inc. has hired veterans in their respective fields to oversee new roles in tire merchandising and information technology, respectively.
The new hires are Jerry Alessia, formerly with Goodyear, as senior vice president of tire merchanding, and Avi Dasgupta, formerly with Constellation Brands Inc. and Xerox Corp., as vice president of information technology infrastructure and data architecture.
In his new role, Mr. Alessia will oversee all elements of Monro's tire merchandising operation as the company works to optimize its tire assortment as part of its Monro.Forward strategy.
Mr. Alessia most recently was general manager of multi-category retailers and business development at Goodyear, where he led the development and execution of sales and operations strategies across new business prospects and several key corporate accounts, Monro said.
In all, Mr. Alessia brings over 27 years of industry experience at national retailers, including 12 at Goodyear where he held a number of positions focusing on retail store management, best practices, category management and strategic pricing administration, and the rest with Sears Holdings Corp., where he was director of customer care and operations, among others.
He succeeds Shawn Denlein, who left Monro in April after just 13 months with the Rochester-based retailer and joined Kumho Tire USA Inc.
Mr. Dasgupta will oversee the expansion of Monro's IT infrastructure and data capabilities, supporting a number of Monro.Forward initiatives that will be rolled out in the coming months.
