DIAMOND BAR, Calif. — FCA Group has selected the Nexen N-FERA SUR4G Drag Spec as the standard fitment for the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320, designed for the dragstrip.

Nexen Tire America Inc. said the tire was designed together with Dodge and their team of engineers, creating a street-legal drag tire that can perform on tracks no matter the level of track preparation.

The Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 features the 392 HEMI V-8 with 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. According to Nexen, it has a quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.7 seconds at 115 miles per hour, and is the fastest naturally aspirated, street-legal muscle car available.

The N'FERA SUR4G Drag Spec will come in one size only, 275/40R20 102W, and feature a non-directional tread pattern, which allows for unrestricted tire rotation to extend the life of the tire at the drag strip.

The tread compound is exclusive to Dodge and the Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320.

Kyle Roberts, marketing director at Nexen Tire America, said the tire maker is passionate about racing and has a strong heritage of designing tires that perform will on the track but also on the street.

"To be selected by one of America's favorite muscle car brands was humbling for Nexen Tire as we strive to build the highest in quality tires, but to still make them affordable for the average consumer," Mr. Robert said.

"Dodge and SRT continue to be an industry leader in building out performance cars that buck the system. When other auto makers are moving away from motorsports, Dodge jumps in with multiple cars that are race inspired. The Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is one of them."

The R/T Scat Pack is the second drag-race-oriented version of the Dodge Challenger that FCA Group has developed recently.

In early 2017 it debuted the Challenger SRT Demon fitted with "Demon" branded Nitto NT05R drag radials.
