NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Hankook Tire America Corp. is donating $175,000 to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), expanding its commitment to helping the military veteran community, the tire maker said.
Hankook made the donation July 14 in an on-stage check presentation at DAV's 97th National Convention in Reno, the company said. This is its fourth year of partnership with DAV, which provides services to veterans of all generations, it said.
The donation supports DAV's Mobile Service Office in the Nashville area and 11 other cities, Hankook said. In addition, Hankook is donating a new seven-passenger vehicle and two sets of tires to help disabled veterans get to and from their medical appointments.
The Hankook-branded vehicle will be stationed permanently at the Nashville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the company said.
"At our Tennessee plant in Clarksville, 20 percent of our employees are U.S. military veterans," said Hosung Suh, president of Hankook Tire America. "We see firsthand the importance of their being able to access the benefits and services they deserve."
