DULUTH, Minn. — Private aircraft producer Cirrus Design Corp. has selected Michelin Aircraft Tire as the OE tire provider for its Cirrus propeller-driven and jet-powered airplanes.
Duluth-based Cirrus Aircraft describes itself as the world's No. 1 producer of piston-powered aircraft, producing more than 350 SR Series personal airplanes a year. In 2016 it introduced the Vision Jet, which it said was the world's first single-engine personal jet.
The new contract calls for all Cirrus aircraft to be equipped with Michelin Air bias-ply tires, including the recently developed Air tubeless sizes, Michelin said. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Norwood, N.C.-based Michelin Aircraft Tires said the Air line of bias tires provides a blend of performance and cost for piston, turbo-prop and jet applications.
