HANOVER, Germay — Continental A.G. has promoted Christian Koetz, currently head of Conti's replacement consumer tire business in Europe, to oversee the company's commercial vehicle tires business unit globally.
Mr. Koetz, 48, succeeds Andreas Esser in that position. Mr. Esser, 59, will take over as head of the Asia Pacific truck tire business within Continental Commercial Vehicle Tires, based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, and report to Mr. Koetz.
Philipp von Hirschheydt, 43, head of passenger and light truck replacement tires Asia Pacific (APAC) Region since April 2015, succeeds Mr. Koetz as head of passenger and light truck replacement tires, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Mr. Hirschheydt's position is being filled by Ferdinand Hoyos, 41, CEO of the firm's Andina region — Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela — since February 2015.
Mr. Koetz held his European consumer tire position since June 2011. During that time he also was president of the European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers' Association from January 2015 to December 2017. From 2006 to 2011, he was senior vice president in Conti's central research and development department; prior to that he held several functions in OE departments for passenger and light truck tires in North America and Germany.
Prior to being promoted to his APAC position, Mr. von Hirschheydt was CEO of Continental Tire Andina in Ecuador (2012-15) and held several positions within the Fuel Supply business unit (today: Fuel & Exhaust Management) in Dortmund, Germany (2009-12), as well as being a project manager in Conti's mergers and acquisitions department.
Mr. Hoyos joined Continental in 2006 as manager of mergers and acquisitions, a position he held until 2015. In 2011, Conti added corporate real estate management to his duties.
