BARBERTON, Ohio — JohnDow Industries Inc. (JDI) has released the latest in its line of Tire Taxis, a heavy-duty product called the Tire Taxi HD.

The Tire Taxi HD was designed to enable the mechanic and tire technician to transport larger wheels and tires — up to 33 inches in rim diameter — efficiently and safely, according to JohnDow.

The original Tire Taxi diameter was increased to 33 inches from 25 to accommodate the heavy-duty tire and wheel market, while the product has 4-inch industrial casters to help users maneuver over rough, uneven surfaces. One caster can be locked for storage.

The HD Tire Taxi holds four heavy-duty wheels and tires and has a load capacity of 552 pounds.

The heavy-duty Tire Taxi provides storage of tires and wheels during work as well as transporting tires and wheels from the auto lift to tire changers or to tire shelves. The unit is designed to fit through standard 36-inch commercial doorways.

The Tire Taxi HD was designed to enable the mechanic and tire technician to transport larger wheels and tires efficiently and safely.

Last fall, JohnDow introduced the Tire Taxi and the Tire Taxi EX, specifically designed to make moving tires and wheels through storage areas and service bays simple, fast and safe. JohnDow said the Tire Taxis increase shop efficiency and productivity while decreasing injuries and promoting safety.

Robert Christy, JDI vice president of sales and marketing, said the market had a need for a heavy-duty version of the Tire Taxi. "It is perfect for transporting 4x4 wheels, van wheels and other large wheels and tires around the workshop," he said.
