NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Bridgestone Americas Inc.' Firestone Ag business unit has added an affordable line of tires under the Performer EVO name that's targeted for use in carrying out "secondary" tasks on farms that don't require a top-line tire.
"We understand that every piece of equipment on a farm needs to function properly in order for an operation to be successful, which is why we developed Performer EVO tires," Matt Frank, product marketing manager, Firestone Ag, said.
As such, Firestone realized that most farmers have "secondary' equipment on their farms used predominantly for tasks such as hauling feed or moving equipment from building to building.
This new tire line gives Firestone dealers more opportunities to recommend a premium brand to their customers, Mr. Frank said, even those looking for a more budget-friendly tire.
The Performer EVO line features a deeper R-1W tread depth for longer wear compared with a standard R-1 tread depth, Mr. Frank said, making the tire a valuable investment. The tire comes with a six-year limited warranty, including coverage by both stubble and field-hazard policies.
The Performer EVO is considered a new line and not related to existing Performer-identified products -- Performer 65 and 70 for medium-horsepower tractors and Performer 85 with a dual-angle lug technology for increased traction.
The new tire is available in eight sizes initially — 380/85R24; 340/85R28; 380/85R28; 460/85R30; 420/85R34; 460/85R34; 420/85R38; and 460/85R38 — with six more slated to be available in September: 380/85R30; 420/90R30; 420/85R30; 400/75R38; 480/80R42; and 480/80R46.
Bridgestone did not disclose pricing information, saying prices are set by authorized Firestone dealers and that customers should "review available options with their local dealer and determine which Firestone product is best for them," according to Mr. Frank.
