FINDLAY, Ohio — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Tread Wisely tire safety program is taking its message to a broader audience now that the tire maker has teamed up with DoSomething.org, a not-for-profit organization that aims to engage young people for social change.

The Tread Wisely campaign seeks to engage Cooper employees around the globe in events that promote tire safety through in-person events and demonstrations. In addition, the campaign aims to bring tire safety information directly to young drivers through social media efforts, in-person events and the Tread Wisely app, available through the App Store and Google Play Store.

By teaming up with DoSomething, Tread Wisely's social media efforts can help reach more young people with educational information that enables them to be more aware of their tires' condition and help develop safe driving habits that include regular tire inspections and maintenance.

According to Cooper, DoSomething's digital platform annually empowers 6 million teens and young adults to make positive impacts on the world through their offline engagements. The organization's impact has reached individuals in every U.S. area code and throughout 131 countries.

"DoSomething has the power to reach millions of young people who often have no idea how important tire safety is and what they need to do to keep themselves and their friends safer on the road," said Anne Roman, vice president of communications & public affairs for Cooper.

"Not only can we reach young drivers through the incredible platform DoSomething offers, but they will take real action to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of their friends," she said. "Action is what drives real understanding and change"

The partnership between Cooper and DoSomething recently with online tire safety information efforts that support National Tire Safety Week, an awareness campaign undertaken by the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association in conjunction with its member corporations and partners.

Later this summer, Cooper and DoSomething will conduct a national youth activation event that calls on young drivers to take specific actions that support tire safety and emphasize the sharing of tire safety information with friends and family.
