WASHINGTON — Gary Champlin, general manager of Champlin Tire Recycling in Concordia, Kan., is the new chair-elect of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, putting him in line to become the group's chairman in 2020.
Mr. Champlin is the third-generation leader of a family business started by his grandfather in 1950, according to ISRI. Champlin Tire Recycling is one of the top 10 tire recyclers in the U.S., the institute said.
Along with serving in many capacities within ISRI, Mr. Champlin has been a board member of Mid-America Tire Dealers, United Tire Recyclers, the Kansas Organization of Recyclers and the Kansas Landfill Association, according to ISRI.
The institute announced its new national officers at its recent 2018 convention and exposition. Each of the new officers will serve two-year terms, the institute said .
Brian Shine of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Manitoba Corp. is the organization's chair for 2018-19, ISRI said. Brian Henesey of Rocky Mountain Recycling, Commerce City, Colo., is the vice chair, and Colin Kelly of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Everett, Mass., is secretary/treasurer.
Kip Vincent of Colt Inc. has begun a two-year term on the ISRI board of directors as president of the organization's Tire & Rubber Chapter.
