COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) recently held a tree-planting ceremony at its specialty tire plant in Sri Lanka.
The company planted more than 50 trees at the new factory, which is situated on 10 acres adjacent to its solid tire factory.
In order to build the new plant, the company had to uproot several trees. GRI said that in the spirit of giving back to the environment, the company planted as many trees as it had to remove for the building.
Established in 2002, GRI operates two plants in Sri Lanka — one for solid tires and one for pneumatics — and distributes in more than 50 countries across the globe. It operates sales offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
