ULVILA, Finland — Tire industry automation specialist Cimcorp Oy is planning to expand its production and office facilities in Ulvila, enabling it to accommodate business growth and expand research and development.
Cimcorp — which develops automated logistics systems for tire makers — is planning to double the size of the manufacturing area at its headquarters to 124,000 square feet so it "can meet growing customer requirements and volume increases with greater production capacity and the ability to manage larger-sized projects."
Cimcorp did not disclose the value of the project, which it expects to be completed by summer 2019.
The decision to expand reflects a sustained increase in orders and continued investment in product development, according to Cimcorp CEO Masatoshi Wakabayashi.
"This new, larger facility will help us strengthen our position as a leading supplier of automated solutions for the tire and distribution industries," he said.
Cimcorp is a developer and manufacturer of robotic materials-handling systems for the tire, food/ beverage, retail, e-commerce and postal service sectors. Among its systems for the tire industry is the "Dream Factory" concept, which optimizes material and data flow from raw materials storage to the finished tire loading dock.
It has a subsidiary company, Cimcorp Automation Ltd., in Grimsby, Ontario, and a satellite office in Norcross, Ga.
Among its U.S. clients is Giti Tire Group for its plant in Chester County, S.C.
