ROME — The Mexican government has bestowed its highest honor for non-Mexican citizens on Marco Tronchetti Provera, executive vice president and CEO of Pirelli & C. S.p.A., in recognition of his efforts to strengthen economic relations between Mexico and Italy.
The award, the "Aguila Azteca," was presented to Mr. Tronchetti Provera on April 23 during a ceremony at the Mexican Embassy in Rome by Juan Jose Guerra Abud, ambassador of Mexico in Italy.
The award (Aztec Eagle in English) also recognizes the Pirelli executive's support of social and cultural initiatives, as well as his role as a co-chair of the Italy-Mexico Business Council.
Pirelli has been present in Mexico as a manufacturer since 2011, when it opened a car and light truck tire plant in Silao City in Guanajuato. That facility now employs about 2,300 workers producing tires for the local and global markets.
