RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — Volkswagen of America Inc. has selected 16- and 17-inch versions of the Falken Sincera SN250A All-Season tire as OE fitments on the 2019 Jetta sedan being sold in North America.

VW redesigned Jetta for the 2019 model to give it a coupe-like body design and installed a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that offers EPA estimated highway fuel economy of 40 mpg. It comes with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Falken fitments will be sizes 205/60R16 92H and 205/55R17 91H.

David Colletti, vice president, original equipment, Falken brand, said Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. (SRNA) is proud "to help reach this dynamic group of drivers and enthusiasts who will see how well the new Jetta responds on our Sincera All-Season tires."

SRNA describes the Sincera as having a symmetric, ribbed tread pattern with stiffer grooves that support each other for even wear, prolonging the life of the tire and enhancing driving comfort in any weather condition.

SRNA is sourcing the Sincera for this fitment from Thailand, where parent Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. began production in late March at the firm's 11-year-old plant in Rayong Province.

SRNA said Jettas with the 16-inch fitment (S and SE trim levels) will debut in June, while those with the 17-inch fitment won't be available until December.
