NORCROSS, Ga. – Industrial tire and track maker Camso Ltd. and FineLine Technologies Inc., a developer of radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, have agreed to cooperate in commercializing an RFID solution for solid tires.

The technology, referred to simply as the "plug," can identify tires individually and track them throughout the entire supply chain from manufacturing, vulcanization and warehousing to shipping and storage at customer locations.

The cooperation agreement is between Camso and FermRFID, a division of FineLine Technologies

"The ability to use integrated RFID solutions in the tire-manufacturing process enables visibility and transparency throughout a tire's life cycle and opens the gateway to Industry 4.0 development and the 'Internet of Things' ecosystem, FineLine Technologies CEO and Chairman George Hoffman said.

"In addition, this RFID solution creates the opportunity for tire manufacturers to explore potential new business models with their customers."

Erick Bellefleur, vice president and general manager – material handling at Camso, added: "As a leader in solid tire manufacturing, we are committed to developing solutions that bring added value to our customers and improve their operations. The monitoring of tire usage throughout the entire life cycle, in the application, offers new avenues to better understand and lower fleet operating costs."

As part of the agreement, Camso will engage in a multi-year partnership to commercialize the plug-in mass production, as well as other RFID solutions currently in development.

    Financial terms were not disclosed.

Norcross-based FineLine Technologies provides barcoded and RFID-integrated labels, tags, and secure credentials to enable and enhance supply chains, omni-channel fulfillment, POS, access control, and consumer engagement.
