NEW ORLEANS — Continental Tire the Americas' General Tire brand has added a summer ultra-high performance (UHP) tire to its portfolio, the G-Max RS.
"We've designed this tire with the driving enthusiast in mind. Our 'smart technologies' offer impressive performance in dry and wet conditions while our visual alerts provide driving confidence," said Travis Roffler, General Tire director of marketing.
The Tier 2 value- brand tire is General's first entry in the summer product category in recent years.
Based on company testing, the tire performed better in dry and wet handling and had 35-percent longer tread life than competing brands, he said.
The G-Max RS features StabiliTread Technology, which provides a larger footprint and optimized pattern stiffness for even wear; SmartGrip Technology with a center rib for improved steering response; stable shoulder blocks for grip; and a silica-rich summer compound with directional tread grooves for wet grip.
The tire also has a Replacement Tire Monitor, a visual indicator imprinted in the tread's center rib that, when worn to 2/32nd inch of tread depth, will read "replace tire."
The tire lineup will comprise 50 sizes covering 16- to 20-inch rim diameters.
