COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) has released two skid-steer tires for the U.S. market, part of its flagship Globestar line: the Globestar Wide Tread (WT) and the Globestar XPT SS.

GRI said the Globestar WT was designed to support the demands of high load-carrying capacity, extend tire life and enhance stability. It provides increased traction and stability in a variety of surface conditions, GRI said.

The product's lug depth, lug gaps, circumferential lateral groves and other design features help the tire run with minimum noise and outstanding lateral guidance, according to the Sri Lankan specialty tire maker. The Globestar WT tread width provides higher contact area and lower tire distortion when maneuvering sharp corners, it said, allowing for a steadier ride.

The XPT SS is a pneumatic skid-steer tire developed for demanding use and engineered to provide the best in performance with outstanding machine stability. GRI said its extra deep directional tread and curved lugs provide traction and durability.

The product features an extra thick sidewall, reducing stress cracking and deflecting debris to protect the tire more effectively, GRI said. The XPT SS lug design and self-cleaning terrace maximizes tread cleanout, giving it improved off-road traction, GRI said, helping the machine be more energy efficient.

The tire is designed to maximize surface exposure so that any heat generated is dispelled swiftly, enhancing the tire's durability.

GRI said both tires are made with advanced compounds that ensure high abrasion resistance and extensive tire life.

GRI said Gary Stevens, recently named GRI's president of sales for material-handling tires in the U.S., will spearhead the tires' launch.
