BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is accepting nominations for its 2018 Tire Industry Hall of Fame.
TIA members in good standing may nominate individuals in the tire industry including manufacturers, inventors, suppliers, publishers, tire association executives, tire dealers, tire recyclers and retreaders. Individuals may be nominated posthumously, the association said.
Contribution of new ideas to the industry, practices promoting the well-being of the industry, exemplary service within the industry and respect toward industry peers all are primary criteria for selection to the Hall of Fame.
Secondary criteria include contributions to civic, educational or charitable endeavors, the association said.
July 2 is the deadline for nominations, according to TIA. Inductees will be honored at the Tire Industry Honors Award Ceremony in Las Vegas Oct. 29 , the night before the opening of the Global Tire Expo.
Last year's inductees were: Cabot Corp. founder Godfrey Cabot; Schenuit Tire & Rubber Co. President William Conklin III; and industry veteran Norman Gaither, founder and owner of DSP 20 Group
