ROVERETO, Italy — Marangoni Group has upgraded the compounding system for truck and earthmoving tire tread rubber production at its plant in Rovereto.
The project involves the addition of a new automatic metering system to an Intermix compounding system installed in 2015, the company said.
The Rovereto-based company worked with Lawer S.p.A., which it said proposed the new metering technology for the compounding system, which features rotors with variable clearance.
The new system will "raise the quality and precision standards of [the] compounding system at national and international level," Marangoni said.
The statement did not indicate the investment cost, but said it involved the addition of a Lawer 'Supersincro' automatic multi-scale powder weighing system.
According to Marangoni, the project responds to developments in the retreading market, including demand for increasingly efficient compounds.
"The industrial tire sector is driven by the ever-changing demands of end users and by the very high speed of technological developments," said Gianluca Merlo, head of Operations Italia at Marangoni S.p.A.
"As for the compound room of the Rovereto plant, this new [system] will bring higher quality to our production," Mr. Merlo added.
