SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Icahn Automotive Group L.L.C. has purchased four independent auto service center locations in the metro Detroit area and plans to convert them to its Pep Boys Service & Tire Centers brand.
These acquisitions — Belanger Tire & Auto Service in Westland, Novi Motive Goodyear in Novi, and Fix' N Go Auto Centers in Troy and Oxford — follow a multimillion-dollar metro Detroit expansion plan the Southfield-based company disclosed last August.
"Icahn Automotive's acquisitions in the heart of the world's automotive industry are an important step in expanding our North America service center footprint," Icahn Automotive CEO Daniel Ninivaggi said.
"We share the Motor City's passion and pride for the industry's history and future."
These latest acquisitions expand Icahn Automotive's presence in metro Detroit to 14 locations, covering the firm's Pep Boys, Auto Plus and Precision Tune brands.
Financial terms of the latest deals were not disclosed. Icahn did not say whether any of the owners of the three businesses it's bought intend to keep working under Icahn's ownership.
Belanger Tire and Novi Motive were predominantly Goodyear dealerships, while Fix' N Go advertised Cooper, Mastercraft and Michelin brands.
Last August Icahn acquired Phil Cavill's Tire & Auto Service Center in Clawson, Mich., and disclosed plans for an extensive remodeling of several existing stores and the doubling of our parts inventory in the market.
