COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) has promoted Gary Stevens to president of sales for materials-handling tires in the U.S.
In his new position, Mr. Stevens will lead GRI's efforts to expand its sales, distribution and dealer network in the U.S. to the next level.
The Colombo-based company recently commissioned production at its first pneumatic tire plant, in Badalgama, Sri Lanka.
GRI Managing Director Prabhash Subasinghe lauded Mr. Stevens for having built GRI's brand awareness in the U.S. over the past 14 years and said he is confident that Mr. Stevens "will continue that same momentum as we launch new material-handling tires and expand into new territories in the U.S."
He's based at the company's U.S. headquarters in Canton, Ga. He will report directly to Mr. Subasinghe.
This promotion is a second key executive appointment for GRI in North America. Last November, GRI hired Maury Shnier to be its sales and marketing director for the Americas, focused on agricultural and construction tires.
