NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Bridgestone Americas Inc. is upgrading its Blizzak winter product line with the Blizzak LT for the heavy-duty light-truck tire segment.
With a more aggressive tread pattern and new rubber compound, the Blizzak LT is engineered to provide improved handling, control and tread life in wet, snowy and icy conditions vs. the product it's replacing, the Blizzak W965.
"The Blizzak LT is the next-generation in winter performance for heavy-duty pickup trucks and SUVs," said Erik Seidel, president, consumer replacement tire sales, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
"Light-truck customers are demanding a dedicated winter tire that allows them to easily navigate the nastiest winter conditions season after season…."
The Blizzak LT's new tread pattern features nearly a third more biting edges for enhanced snow traction and more water evacuation channels to help reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
The tire, to be produced at Bridgestone's plant in Joliette, Quebec, will be offered in 11 LT sizes in 16-, 17-, 18- and 20-inch rim diameters, covering 93 percent of light trucks on the road today. Bridgestone will initiate shipments in July.
Pricing will be similar to the W965, Bridgestone said.
