DETROIT — FCA U.S. L.L.C. has spec'd a 17-inch version of the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 as an OE fitment on the 2018 Ram 1500 full-size pickup sold in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
FCA displayed the redesigned and re-engineered 2019 model-year version of the Ram1500 at the at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. (YRC) will supply the Geolandar A/T G015 in size LT265/70R17 121/118s for the Ram 1500, which FCA builds at its Sterling Heights, Mich., assembly line. YRC did not specify on which of the Ram's seven trim lines its tires will be available.
YRC describes the Geolandar A/T G015 as an all-terrain tire designed especially for use on SUVs and pickup trucks that offers "superior" driving performance and greater durability in off-road conditions along with a comfortable and quiet ride on paved roads.
The tire also features a "stylish yet strong design befitting a tire mounted on SUVs and pickup trucks," YRC said without elaborating.
Other OE fitments already announced for the Ram 1500 include the Falken Wildpeak A/T 3WA in two sizes — LT275/65R18C 113/110S and 275/55R20 113T — and Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrec tires for the Quad Cab configuration, according to FCA.
