WAUKEE, Iowa — Car-X Tire & Auto franchisee Mark Goldner has opened his 10th Car-X location in Iowa, a 10-bay, greenfield store in Waukee, a western suburb of Des Moines.

The opening is the second in the past six months for Mr. Goldner's company, MJG Development L.L.C. In September, his business opened a Car-X location in Johnston, Iowa, a northern suburb of Des Moines.

Mr. Goldner has been operating Car-X Tire stores in the greater Des Moines area since 1998 and nine of his 10 stores are in that region; the 10th is in Ames.

He did not disclose the investment to build and open the new store, nor say how many employees the shop employs.

Mr. Goldner credits his success to his "highly trained staff and well-seasoned store management team" and said job No. 1 is keeping the customer's vehicles running correctly, while fixing only what needs fixing.

At the opening of the Johnston store in September, Mr. Goldner said, "We should be convenient to just about everyone in the greater Des Moines and Ames area.

"With tires being a very competitive part of our business, you can find a brand and size at the right price for just about every passenger car, SUV and light truck."

He indicated at time that he's continuing to scout the area for additional locations, although that likely won't be until later in 2018 or in 2019.

Car-X Tire is a franchise program owned and administered by Monro Inc., which bought it in May 2015 from Tuffy Associates Corp.

There are approximately 163 Car-X stores operating throughout the upper Midwest, 60 of them owned directly by Monro.
