TOKYO — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. (YRC) has secured its first OE fitment with BMW A.G., two versions of its Advan Sport V105 high-performance tire for the German car maker's 2018 compact X3 four-door hatchback SUV.
The latest version of the five-passenger all-wheel-drive X3 debuted in North America last November and will be released gradually in other markets around the world, Yokohama said.
The Advan fitments for the X3 are 225/60R18 104W or 245/50R19 105W, YRC said, the latter of which features Yokohama's run-flat technology.
Yokohama describes the Advan Sport V105 as a tire developed primarily for use on high-power premium automobiles that delivers "excellent" driving performance and "superior" comfort and safety characteristics.
BMW is offering three versions of the X3 — the xDrive20d and xDrive30d, powered by turbocharged inline 2-liter 4- and 6-cylinder engines, respectively, and M40i, a higher performance edition with a 3-liter version of the 6-cylinder engine.
BMW refers to the X3, which it builds in the U.S., as an "SAV," or sports activity vehicle, instead of SUV.
Other OE fitments for the V105 include the 2018 Subaru WRX STI and 2017 Subaru Impeza.
