NASHVILLEm Tenn. — Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. has added another OE fitment in North America to its portfolio, this time for the 2018 Lincoln Navigator SUV.
The Navigator — which was named the 2018 North American truck of the year at the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit — will be equipped with Hankook RH12 Dynapro HT all-season tires, size 285/45R22.
This size is listed by Lincoln as the fitment for the Navigator's "Select," "Reserve" and "Black" trim levels. The vehicle's standard size is P275/55HR20. The tires are made at Hankook's plant in Geumsan, South Korea.
Late last year, Hankook disclosed OE supply contracts for two of the top-selling sedans in North America, the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry.
Hankook said it is discussing additional OE opportunities with top-tier U.S. auto manufacturers to become the supplier for several 2019 models, in addition to securing partnerships for 2018.
"We are excited for auto makers and consumers to experience the exceptional quality of our products that are being produced in America for American consumers," said Eric Shirley, director of sales for Hankook Tire America's OE Division.
Hankook inaugurated production at its first North American plant last October. The $800 million plant in Clarksville, Tenn., is scheduled to produce 5.5 million passenger and light truck tires annually after the first phase is complete.
Hankook also recently begun to distribute its first sound-absorbing silent foam tire in North America, which has been fitted on the 2018 Nissan Rogue SV.
Hankook said the technology was designed to reduce road noise and enhance the driving experience. The technology features a polyurethane foam inlay sheet applied to the inner liner of the tire.
