YARMOUTH, Maine — Jim White, whose life story as a California high school track and field coach spawned a Disney movie released in 2015, will be the keynote speaker at the New England Tire & Service Association's (NETSA) annual trade show and convention, to be held April 6-7 at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantuckett, Conn.
Mr. White will share his experiences while coaching disadvantaged youth from California farm families from the 1980s to 2002. His teams earned nine state championships in track and field.
Disney's movie, "McFarland USA," starred Kevin Costner playing the role of Mr. White, who is a past winner of the California Coach of the Year award.
The trade show will open April 6 at 4:30 p.m., featuring exhibitors from New England's leading suppliers and vendors.
The NETSA show continues April 7 with morning seminars for owners, managers and technicians. After the luncheon, Mr. White will deliver his keynote address.
The trade show will close after the annual Hall of Fame dinner and scholarship auction held Saturday evening.
