WUXI, China — China's Jiangsu General Science Technology Co. Ltd. (JGST) has set up a research, sales and international trade office in the U.S.
The company, General Rubber North America, is registered in Georgia, but the subsidiary's office is operating, for now, in West Covina, Calif. The office will move to an as yet unspecified city in Georgia, once the personnel are ready, the company said.
JGST — producer of the GS and TBB truck tire brands — did not say how the new office will affect or interact with its U.S. sales company, Statewide Tires Inc. of West Covina.
The new company opens with a registered capital of $2.5 million, down from "up to $5 million" when the plan was first announced in August.
The Wuxi-based company recently disclosed it was increasing the investment budgeted for a truck and bus tire capacity expansion by 20 percent to nearly $230 million and said a year ago that it planned to add passenger tires to its product range.
