MILAN — Pirelli & C. S.p.A. will supply six different tires as OE for the Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A's new Urus, the auto maker's first super SUV.
The tires will be matched on vehicles to provide various functionalities and driving experiences, according to Pirelli.
Pirelli's P Zero line will cater to consumers who desire performance; P Zero Corsa for a more sporty use; and Scorpion for off-road performance.
There are four versions of the Scorpion tire family: Standard, winter, all-season and all-terrain, accounting for the six diffferent types of tire available,
The tires will be come in rim diameters of 21 to 23 inches.
The Urus can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds and 0-124 mph in 12.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of 190 mph.
Pirelli said the challenge for engineers was to produce a tire that could cope with contrasting demands, such as grip, snow traction, durability and laceration resistance in off-road driving.
Pirelli said its tire is "extremely quick on track and versatile driving in snow or gravel without compromising on comfort." The tire maker's development work concentrated on compound and tread pattern design to offer maximum grip and flexibility.
Pirelli said the more open tire pattern, which leaves out some tread blocks, helps to improve handling off-road on gravel, while offering excellent dry and wet handling on conventional surfaces.
