BIRMINGHAM, England — British sports car producer Radical Sportscars Ltd. has designated Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. its exclusive OE supplier for both its racing and the road-going models.
Thanks to the new partnership, Hankook will be represented in various international racing series where Radical is involved, Hankook said, including the "Radical SR1 Cup" in England, the North American Masters and European Masters and the cup series in the Middle East, Canada, Australia and Scandinavia.
Hankook Europe Motorsports Director Manfred Sandbichler called the partnership with Radical "another milestone in our international commitment" and one that "provides excellent opportunities to showcase our high-performance products worldwide."
Hankook will supply Radical with a range of fitments for motorsport applications, including the Ventus Race in the slick (F200) and rain version (Z207), along with the Ventus S1 evo² for road use.
Among the Radical street-legal models that Hankook is equipping are the Radical SR8, a V8-powered, open-top two-seater with a performance/weight ratio of 5.75 hp/kg and 0-60 mph acceleration of 2.7 seconds. The fitment is 215/45ZR17 or 245/45ZR17 front and 265/35ZR18 rear, depending on its weight and intended use.
In the future, the partnership will extend to Radical's SR1, SR3, RXC600R, RXC GT3 versions, RCX Spyder and RXC GT ROAD, Hankook said.
Nigel Land, Radical sales and marketing director, said Hankook has an "incredible pedigree at top-level motorsport, founded on its global OEM relationship with premium car manufacturers."
Mr. Land added that Radical chose Hankook after an "extensive and highly successful testing program."
Peterborough, England-based Radical was founded in 1997 as a manufacturer of lightweight sportscars using superbike technology.
