HORSHAM, Pa. — AAMCO Transmissions Inc. expects new and existing franchisees to open eight locations in seven states over the next several months.
AAMCO said locations will open in Queen Creek, Ariz.; Upper Marlboro, Md.; Queensbury, N.Y.; Lauderhill and Cutler Bay, Fla.; Winchester, Va.; Hackensack, N.J.; and Spring, Texas.
Horsham-based AAMCO — a unit of Icahn Enterprises L.P. since October — did not identify any of the franchisees who are opening stores.
"Over the past year, we've been extremely focused on growing AAMCO's presence across the country, particularly in markets where there is a need for very specialized auto repair shops," said Brian O'Donnell, AAMCO senior vice president of franchise sales for the brand.
"This announcement is a true testament to the momentum we have gained through our efforts, and we look forward to entering 2018 with an even stronger focus on aggressive growth as the leading powertrain specialist."
AAMCO also offers brake, oil and lube, cooling system, suspension and exhaust/muffler services.
AAMCO has a network of about 640 locally owned and independently operated automotive service centers in North America.
The company said it is actively seeking single- and multi-unit franchisee operators in target markets throughout New Jersey and New York, as well as in Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Hartford, Conn.
Interested candidates should have a minimum net worth of $250,000 and liquid assets of at least $65,000 per unit. Depending on the real estate site selected, franchisees can expect the total investment to be about $223,600 to $330,000 with a $39,500 initial franchise fee, the company said.
