BADALGAMA, Sri Lanka — Specialty tire producer Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) is installing an Alpha Agrifast Italy extruder, made by Marangoni Group's Marangoni Meccanica S.p.A., at its new plant in Sri Lanka.
GRI said it is the first industrial tire manufacturer in Sri Lanka to use the machinery, which it describes as a compact, user-friendly and advanced extruder server that is interfaced to tire-building bay drums for producing components such as tread base, tread cap and sidewalls. The company said the process is done with the highest degree of accuracy and at high speed.
GRI will begin using this machinery in January. This new factory will be the largest in Sri Lanka dedicated to the production of specialty tires and will be the first to produce radial agriculture tires, GRI said.
GRI said it will be using machinery with a high degree of precision, less operator dependency and increased automation, resulting in enhanced consistency in quality, shorter cycle times, increased efficiency, reduced waste and increased safety.
The company said the machines are ideal for prompt changeover in sizes to meet customer demand without an interruption in delivery schedule.
