CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Meineke Car Care Centers' franchisor Driven Brands Inc. plans to accelerate a "light re-imaging" program of its franchised locations next year, with roughly 200 stores undergoing a refurbishment that will include refreshed interiors and exteriors.
Driven Brands test-marketed the concept at about 20 stores in 2017, predominantly in the Indianapolis and Las Vegas markets, Meineke President Danny Rivera said in a Dec. 19 conference call with the trade media.
In addition, Mr. Rivera said the franchisor is expecting the Meineke network to grow by roughly 50 locations next year, with both new and existing franchisees contributing to the growth.
The Meineke network grew by about 50 locations in 2017, Mr. Rivera said, while growth expectations for 2019 could be more aggressive, depending on how 2018 unfolds and how robust the economy grows.
With more than 900 locations in operation throughout North America, Meineke clams to be the third largest provider of automotive maintenance services.
Tires will continue to be an integral part of the franchise group's growth plans, Mr. Rivera said, noting the network has registered five straight years of improved tire sales. The group's target is for tires to represent 20 percent of revenue in the coming years, he added.
