MEMPHIS, Tenn — Point S USA has struck a deal with Nussbaum Distributing Inc. of Memphis to be its distribution partner for Point S member dealers the dealer cooperative is planning to recruit as it moves eastward from its West Coast/Rocky Mountains base.

Adding Nussbaum as a distribution partner provides Point S the capacity to add 50 stores to its network, according to Clint Young, director of sales and business development at Point S USA.

This deal gives Point S a fourth U.S. distribution center in the U.S., supplementing warehouses in Portland, Ore., Salt Lake City and Denver. Nussbaum Distributing's warehouse spans 120,000 square feet.

"This expansion is in line with our strategic growth plans across the United States," Point S USA CEO Walter Lybeck said. "We've developed a strong retail presence in 15 western states, and this represents the next step with our commitment to helping independent tire store owners across the country."

Mr. Lybeck said this type of distribution arrangement "demonstrates an ability for our cooperative to be nimble as we grow. We'll now have the opportunity to more efficiently extend our independent-branded retail story and deliver our competitive tire pricing to new markets."

There are more than 200 Point S locations in the U.S., in 15 states, with combined retail sales of more than $300 million.

The nearest Point S dealers to Memphis now are in Oklahoma, but the marketing group's leadership discussed plans at its 2017 membership meeting to start recruiting dealers and dealership groups throughout the U.S. heartland as the first step toward nationwide coverage.
