LAS VEGAS — Pirelli Tire North America has added the Scorpion All Terrain Plus, a tire designed for "maximum" on/off-road performance, to its Scorpion line tires for pickup trucks and SUVs.
The new tire "reflects Pirelli's continued commitment to offering tires developed specifically for the North American Market," said Ian Coke, chief technical officer for Pirelli Tire North America (PTNA).
The tire combines advanced compound and design technology with an aggressive appearance to provide with a "durable, high-performing driving experience through a wide range of challenging on- or off-road conditions," he said.
The Scorpion All Terrain Plus tire replaces Pirelli's previous offering in this category, the Scorpion ATR.
The tire offers a new tread pattern and tread compound designed to increase durability, traction and wear resistance, Pirelli said, without sacrificing on-road driving comfort or noise generation.
Key features tire include: "aggressive" tread pattern and upper sidewall design; high resistance to cutting and chipping of the tread elements; enhanced snow traction; deep tread grooves with conical stone ejectors; 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty for all sizes.
The new line will be available in a range of 16-, 17-, 18- and 20-inch rim diameter sizes, with deliveries starting in the first half of 2018.
Examples of planned fitments include the Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma and Dodge RAM 1500.
