LAS VEGAS — Coker Tire Co. has expanded its Firestone-brand vintage product line with the Firestone 721 whitewall radial, in sizes to fit 1970s' full-size classics such as the Lincoln Continental and Cadillac Eldorado, among others.
The 721 series was one of the early efforts by Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. to produce a steel-belted radial for larger-sized American cars, Coker said.
It features alpha-numeric sizing, the predecessor to today's P-metric sizing and period correct branding and sidewall markings, including a 3/4-inch whitewall.
The LR78-15 sizing offer OE and optional fitment for many full size American cars, including Buick Estate, Cadillac DeVille, Chrysler New Yorker, Ford LTD and more from 1971 to 1979, Coker said.
The LR78-15 whitewall offering will be available in early 2018, at a price of $229 each and will feature Coker Tire's Life of the Tread Warranty.
Specialty Tire of America produces the tire for Coker, using new molds built from original Firestone drawings and updated materials and manufacturing methods for added safety and performance, according to Coker Tire CEO Corky Coker. The new tires are eligible for Coker Tire's extended tire protection, one step above the standard warranty.
Coker Tire will mark its 60th year in business in 2018.
