LONG BEACH, Calif. — For the third consecutive year, Brazilian retread materials producer Borrachas Vipal S/A took part in the IANA Intermodal Expo, held Sept. 17-19 in Long Beach.
The event was directed to fleets of the intermodal segment, which according to Vipal, “requires specific products for mixed traffic since it involves more than one modality of transportation and is usually used in difficult-to-reach places.”
During the expo the Latin American company exhibited several products used in the North American market, including its R159HS and RZL30 treads for the intermodal transport sector that are produced “with a special compound of high elasticity and protection against aging caused by heat, ozone and also by the constant effects of sunlight,” making them “ideal for the application, according to Vipal.
The R159HS is for highway load and commercial transport — for trailer axles and optional for moderate drive axles — offering “excellent wear resistance due to abrasion,” the company said. The tread has low heat generation, “providing less wear and tear on the casing,” it added.
The RZL30 features ribbed reinforcements and a low linear weight, which increases its retreading capacity, while producing less heat and offering a longer life cycle for the tire's casing, according to Vipal.
