Some 2012 Toyota Sequoia and Tundra trucks with 3UR-FE and 3UR-FBE engines may turn on the malfunction-indicator light and log trouble code P2440 and/or P2442 (air injection switching valve stuck open, Bank 1 or 2) in computer memory.
According to Toyota Motor Sales USA, the condition occurs only in colder ambient temperatures, and is due to ice crystals in the air- switching valve preventing the valve from closing. Reprogramming the powertrain-control module (PCM) with updated software is the only way to get the air injection system operating properly again.
Check with a dealer for the specifics.
