NEW YORK — Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. has expanded the range of its Pirelli Collezione tires for classic and vintage cars to encompass fitments for cars other than Porsches.
Pirelli initially launched its "N" series — designated as homologated by German car maker Porsche A.G. — in early 2016, targeting owners of "classic" Porsche models covering the 1959-2006 period.
Available for historic models dating back to the 1950s, the Pirelli Collezione combines new technology with the correct period look to create a tire that delivers "peak performance" on today's street or track while paying homage to the car's original character and authenticity.
The expanded Collezione range encompasses six Pirelli Cinturato models from the 1950s, '60s and '70s — CA67, CN72, CN36, CN12, P5 and P7 — and the P7 Corsa Classic motorsports range.
Among the targeted car marques are Aston Martin; Audi; Ferrari; Fiat-Abarth; Jaguar; Lamborghini; Maserati; and Mercedes-Benz.
The expanded range includes 175/R400 89H size of the Cinturato CA67 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Pirelli's OE fitment on Lancia Flaminia, the Italian car maker's "flagship" luxury model throughout the 1960s.
The full range includes:
Cinturato CA67 — 1950s: Pirelli's first textile-belted radial tire. It fits iconic cars like the Aston Martin DB5, Ferrari 250 GT and Mercedes 300SL "Gullwing." Pricing ranges from $273-397 per tire.
Cinturato CN72 — 1960s: Originally developed for Ferrari and the Maserati 4000 and 5000, the "new" CN72 can be fit on models such as the Aston Martin DB6, Ferrari Daytona, Lamborghini Miura P400, Maserati Ghibli, etc. Pricing: $423 per tire.
Cinturato CN36 — 1960s: Pirelli's first standard production steel-belted radial tire, it marked Pirelli's re-entry at that time into rallies. Targeted vehicles include: Porsche 911, Ferrari Dino, Fiat Dino and the Mercedes 280 range. Pricing ranges from $253-409 per tire.
