WASHINGTON — Goodyear and Michelin North America Inc. are among the Defense Logistics Agency's Superior Suppliers for 2017.
Goodyear and Michelin, which supply tires to military vehicles and aircraft, were among the 15 companies that received Silver awards in the Superior Suppliers program, according to the DLA.
Additionally, there were 12 companies that received Gold awards, 11 that received Bronze awards and six that received recognition from the commanders of the DLA's Primary Level Field Activities (PLFA) that buy military supplies.
In designating companies for the Superior Suppliers awards, the DLA reviewed its top 150 parts and commodity suppliers that had business with the agency in 2014, 2015 and 2016, according to the DLA.
The companies and their subsidiary business units had to have DLA contracts with a proven record of performance, as well as established ratings in the federal Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System, the agency said.
"Goodyear has been partnering with the U.S. military dating almost as far back as our company's inception," Goodyear Americas President Steve McClellan said.
"We are honored to receive this award, and we are privileged to supply the U.S. military with tires that equip their vehicles to help keep military men and women safe while they're in the line of duty."
Officials from Michelin could not be reached for comment.
