Sullivan buys Lyons Tire of Waltham, Mass.

WALTHAM, Mass. — Sullivan Tire and Auto Service acquired Tom Lyons Tire & Auto Service in Waltham, and plans to remodel the location and reopen it as the 41st Sullivan Tire retail store in Massachusetts and 69th overall throughout New England.

The location, which opened for business in 1953, spans 7,600 square feet with 10 service bays and 15,000-sq.-ft. wholesale warehouse and distribution facility nearby.

The business will remain open during the "extensive renovations" over the coming months, Sullivan said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Tom Lyons Tire and the Garzone family have done a wonderful job serving Waltham and the surrounding communities for many, many years and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to continue that great tradition in the Sullivan Tire way," said Paul Sullivan, Sullivan Tire's vice president of marketing.

Many of the Tom Lyons Tire staff will be staying on as Sullivan Tire employees and Sullivan Tire will honor all Tom Lyons warranty work.

"We've known the Sullivan Tire family for a long time and respect the way they do business so this was the perfect fit for us," said former location owner Mike Garzone.

"I'm thankful for the many loyal customers over the years and hardworking employees. We know our customers and staff will be in good hands with the Sullivan Tire team, and I look forward to remaining active in the business."

Waltham is a city of about 60,000 inhabitants, located about 12 miles west of downtown Boston. Sullivan has two existing stores within a 5-mile radius, in Newton and Watertown, Mass.
