AKRON — Goodyear has promoted Christopher Helsel to vice president and chief technology officer, effective Sept. 1.
Mr. Helsel assumes the chief technology officer duties from Joe Zekoski, who has held that position since 2015. Mr. Zekoski will continue as senior vice president of global operations and technology, a position he's held since August 2016.
Mr. Helsel, 52, joined Goodyear in 1996 and has been director, North America commercial and global off-highway technology, since earlier this year. Goodyear said he brings a wealth of experience in research and development, technology and business roles.
"While technological leadership has always been at the core of our company, at no time in our 119-year history have we seen the pace of change progress as rapidly and profoundly as we are currently experiencing," said Richard J. Kramer, chairman, CEO and president.
