ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monro Muffler Brake Inc. has identified the acquisition target in Michigan it disclosed recently as a chain of Speedy Auto Service locations that it is converting to its Monro Muffler brand.
The Speedy Auto Service stores — in Ann Arbor, Canton, Dearborn, Detroit, Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Livonia, Northville, Sterling Heights, Troy and Waterford — were owned by UVR Inc. of Farmington Hills, according to Monro's first quarter 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Monro disclosed in its first quarter earnings report on July 20 that it was buying 20 stores in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan but didn't identify the businesses being acquired or their locations.
Farmington Hills-based UVR is owned by Surendra Gorrepati, according to various sources. Tire Business was unable to contact him for comment.
The dozen new stores expand Monro's presence in Michigan to 33 locations, the company said. Monro actually acquired 13 stores but elected to not reopen one of them.
