Some 2008-09 Saab 9-7X models with 4.2-liter engines may emit a ticking sound from the engine compartment. When you open the hood, take a close look at the exhaust manifold because there's a good chance there's a crack in it.
The crack is what causes the ticking noise.
Installing a revised manifold with a stress-relieving slot machined between the two center runners, part No.12637060, will eliminate the noise. The updated manifold should be available at most GM dealers.
