MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — YourMechanic Inc., the mobile car repair network, has hired software development veteran Russ Muzzolini as chief technology officer (CTO).

In his new position, Mr. Muzzolini will lead YourMechanic's engineering team, where he is responsible for daily operations, recruitment and execution of strategic initiatives to create technology-based solutions that deliver best-in-class service.

YourMechanic President and CEO Anthony Rodio cited Mr. Muzzolini's experience with "scaling highly-talented teams and developing technical solutions to enable rapid business growth" as skills that complement his firm's strategic vision.

Prior to joining YourMechanic, Mr. Muzzolini was CTO at Spire Global Inc., a satellite-powered data company that has launched 30 nano-satellites operating in low-earth orbit. He remains an adviser to Spire.

He also worked at Shutterfly Inc., where he was instrumental in the growth of the business from an ecommerce startup offering a single product to a public company.

"I am passionate about the opportunity to build a business that our mechanics and customers love to use," Mr. Muzzolini said. "This is an exciting time to join the team. YourMechanic is changing the auto repair industry by building a new category in the automotive service market."

Mountain View-based YourMechanic offers more than 600 repair, maintenance and diagnostic services on a mobile basis. The service is available in the 50 largest U.S. metropolitan areas, the firm said, with new cities added regularly.
