SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Discount Tire/America's Tire has opened 25 stores in the past eight months, including its first in Louisiana, and has several more under construction or in planning, including its first in Alabama.
The store openings — in 14 states — expand the Discount Tire network of stores to 944 locations in 33 states, the company said.
Discount Tire was particularly active in Texas and Virginia, opening four and three stores there, respectively. The retailer has more than 240 stores in Texas, but entered the Virginia market just last year and now has four stores there.
It also opened two stores each in California, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee.
The Scottsdale-based retailer's first store in Louisiana is in Prairieville, an expanding suburb of Baton Rouge.
The dealership's first store in Alabama is being built in Madison, a suburb of Huntsville.
The company did not disclose the size or number of employees at the new stores. Discount Tire stores typically run about 7,000-plus square feet with six service bays.
Discount Tire does not disclose its investment in new stores, but Internet searches for newly opened locations show the company paid upwards of $825,000 in at least four cases for the real estate acquired.
