AKRON — The deadline to nominate an independent tire dealer or retreader for the prestigious Tire Dealer Humanitarian award is a week away.
Nominations are due by July 31.
The annual award recognizes an independent tire dealer or retreader who, during the past year, has made significant contributions to the betterment of his or her community through charitable or public service work.
The winner, selected by an independent committee outside the tire industry, will receive the Tire Dealer Humanitarian Award Medal and a $2,500 donation to the charity of his or her choice.
The 24th annual award, sponsored by Tire Business, will be presented during the 2017 Tire Industry Association Honors Night on Oct. 30, prior to the opening of the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, in Las Vegas.
Anthony and Beth Blackman — owners of Atlantic Tire & Service in Cary, N.C. — were the recipients of 2016 Tire Business Tire Dealer Humanitarian Award, singled out for their dedication to Cary and the surrounding communities.
A nomination form is available at tirebusiness.com/humanitarian and on Page 14 of the July 19 print issue of Tire Business.
