Simple Tire partners with FedEx

PHILADELPHIA — SimpleTire L.L.C. has partnered with FedEx Corp. so its online customers can have tires shipped to, and picked up at, any of the nationwide FedEx offices for free.

FedEx selected SimpleTire as a partner for this new program as a way to continue extending its role in the ecommerce market, SimpleTire said.

SimpleTire is an online tire retailer that aggregates inventory from independent tire suppliers and ships to any location a customer chooses.

"This new option provides customers a useful way to receive their tires. Instead of tires being shipped to a home where waiting for a delivery is a hassle, or storage can be an issue, or leaving them on a doorstep might be a security concern, this provides a safe and convenient option," the company said.

Many of the 1,800-plus FedEx locations are open extended hours and on Sundays.

FedEx will hold tire deliveries for up to five days until the customer is ready to pick them up, SimpleTire said, providing customers an added level of flexibility for scheduling their tire installation with a local automotive shop.

"FedEx has been a great partner of ours for a longtime. "This 'delivery and hold' option is another important innovation that benefits our customers."

When ordering on SimpleTire.com, customers have the option to choose the FedEx office location nearest them. When the order is delivered to that office, they are notified upon its arrival and then can pickup at a time best for them, the company said.
